1947 Lumper Fined. Charged with having stolen two pairs of socks, valued at 8/. The property of McIlwraith, McEacharn Ltd. Charles Gorton (32). Wharf labourer of 138 Marmion street.He was fined £10. Evidence was that accused was seen leaving the steamer Koomilya at 5 p.m.on Friday with two pairs of socks in his possession. When questioned the accused admitted that he had taken them from No. 2 hold. (reference)

Inter-War, Bungalow Porch House Arts & Crafts Art Deco Influences

No. 150 (previously was no.) Marmion street is a single-storey house constructed in rendered brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is an expression of the Inter-War Porch style. The front elevation is symmetrically planned with a central door flanked by sets of casement windows. The front facade features a curved skillion roofed porch supported on rendered columns. The porch is likely a replacement. Concrete steps lead from the porch to the garden. The roofscape features a rendered chimney. Openings have stone quoins. The place retains its form and most of its details. The lot has been subdivided and amalgamated. A residence has been built to the rear that addresses Irwin Street.

1952 Whilst home for a short holiday Mr. and Mrs. Ron Caple (nee Jean Faulkner) also took the opportunity of having their daughter christened Roweena. (reference)

HISTORY

1933 Funeral. The funeral of the late Mr. William Burnside, of 61 Staton road, East Fremantle, took place in the Presbyterian portion of the Fremantle Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The late Mr. Burnside was an old and respected resident of Fremantle, and was born at Killyberry, Bellaghy, Country Derry, Ireland. He came to Australia 47 years ago and had lived in Fremantle for 37 years, during which he was in business there until retirement in 1932. Mr. Burnside was an enthusiastic member of Scots Church...Among those present were the Mayor of North Fremantle (Mr. A. Turton), the Mayor of East Fremantle (Mr. J. Munro)... Alex and W. McKee. No. 160 (previously was no. 233) Marmion street is a single-storey house constructed in rendered brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is an expression of the Inter-War California Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with an offset half-timbered gabled porch. The porch is supported on masonry piers. A balustrade spans between the piers and the porch has been partially filled in with windows. There is a central door flanked by sets of casement windows.

HISTORY

1936 Funeral The Late Constable E. P. Prosser. The interment took place in the Karrakatta Cemetery on January 8 last of Constable Edgar P. Prosser, of the Police Department, Geraldton, who lost his life while saving that of his son, Kevin, in a sad drowning accident at Geraldton on January 5. The deceased was born at Laverton, and joined the police force in 1929, and is survived by his widow, one son and two daughters...The chief mourners were Mrs, Prosser (wife), Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Prosser (father and mother), Messrs. Thomas and Jack Prosser (brothers). (reference)

It is an expression of the Inter-War California Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a thrust bay and a part-width gabled porch. The porch is supported on masonry piers. A balustrade spans between the piers. The thrust bay features a set of casement windows. There is a central door flanked by sets of casement windows.

No. 164 (previously was no. 237) Marmion street is a single-storey house constructed in rendered brick house with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is an expression of the Inter-War Porch style. The front elevation is symmetrically planned with a skillion roofed porch set between matching gable thrust bays. The porch is supported on rendered columns. The half-timbered, gable bays feature windows. There is a central door under the porch. The roofscape features a brick chimney and finials. There are concrete steps going from the porch to the garden. Original windows have been replaced with aluminium sliding windows.
