ARCHITECTURE

Late Victorian / Federation, Cottage W/ Georgian Influences

No 95 (previously known as No 173) and 97 Hubble Street are a duplex constructed in rendered masonry with a hipped corrugated iron roof and a tiled roof verandah. The pair of houses in the Federation Bungalow have been adapted in the Post-World War II era. It is symmetrically planned with a full width skillion roofed verandah supported on concrete columns and masonry pier. The piers are linked by a rendered balustrade wall.

HISTORY

1930 Death on August 2, at the Fremantle Hospital, David Rae, beloved husband of Annie Rae, of 173 Hubble-street, East Fremantle; aged 60 years. The Friends of the late Mr. David Rae, of the Fremantle Harbour Trust, and of 173 Hubble-street, East Fremantle, and formerly of Warrnambool, Victoria, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of interment, the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fremantle. Fremantle Lumpers' Union The Members of the above Union are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of their late comrade, Mr. David Rae. (reference)

1934 Death on August 12, at the Auckland Hospital, New Zealand, after a few days illness, William Walker, engineer (formerly of the Government Refrigerating Works, Perth, and the Midland Junction Abattoirs), loving husband of Shirley, and devoted father of W. G., Shirley, Basil, and the late Audrey Walker of 173 Hubble-street, East Fremantle; aged 46 years. A just and honourable man. (reference)
