ARCHITECTURE

Federation / Bungalow w Regency Influences

No 38 Osborne Road is a single storey house constructed in limestone, tuck-pointed brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gable corrugated iron roof. It is a very fine expression of the Federation Queen Anne style. The front elevation is asymmetrically with a full width return bull-nosed roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts with post brackets. A vertical timber balustrade spans between the posts. It has a complex stepped plan. There is a diagonal bay that features the entry door. The door is a part glazed front door with a hopper light flanked by sidelights. The front facade features French double hung sash windows. A particular feature of the house is its tuck-pointing, rendered string course, a complex roof and brick chimneys with rendered caps. The place sits on limestone foundations.
