ARCHITECTURE

Federation Gable Domestic Carpenter

No. 80 (previously was no. 164) Sewell street is a single story cottage constructed in brickwork with a hipped corrugated iron roof cottage. It is a simple expression of the Federation Bungalow style. The front elevation is symmetrically planned with a central door flanked by double hung sash windows. The facade features a full width broken back roofed verandah supported on timber posts

HISTORY

1922 Death on August 20, at his late residence, 164 Sewell-street, East Fremantle, Patrick Rush, the dearly beloved husband of Hannah Rush and loving father of Michael: aged 58 years. Rest in peace. (reference)

1925 Death on April 24, at 164 Sewell-street, East Fremantle, John Kennedy, dearly beloved brother of Mrs. P. J. Dunne, brother-in-law of Mr. P. J. Dunne, fond uncle of Frank, Tom, Dick, Molly, and Kathleen, brother of P. Kennedy (Koroit, Vic.), and Mrs. A. E. Ferrier (Richmond, Vic). RIP (reference)

1927 Date Loaf: Take 2 cupfuls of self-raising flour, 1 cupful of dates, about ½lb. (¾-cupful) milk, 1 egg, ½ cupful of sugar, 1 tablespoonful butter, and a pinch of salt. Sift flour and salt; rub in butter; add sugar and dates; beat up egg and milk, mixing all the ingredients well together. Grant, North Perth), Hugh (164 Sewell-street, East Fremantle), and William (killed in action):and grandfather of 13 grandchildren; aged 77 years. (reference)

1945 General News. William Joseph Morcom, of 80 Sewell-street, East Fremantle, appeared before Mr. F. M. Read, SM, in the Fremantle Police Court yesterday on a charge of having driven a utility without a motor wagon drivers licence. He was fined 5/. On a charge of negligent driving he was fined £2. 1945 Mr. and Mrs. H. Thorne, of 8 Forrest-street, Palmyra, have much pleasure in announcing the engagement of their fourth daughter, Jean, to William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Morcom, of 80 Sewell-street, East Fremantle. (reference)
