ARCHITECTURE

Inter-War Bungalow with Federation Influences

No 26 Walter Street is a single-storey house constructed in limestone, brick and rendered brick with a hipped tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. It is asymmetrically composed with a thrust bay and a part-width return broken back roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on Tuscan columns. A steel balustrade spans between the columns. A garage has been constructed to the north. The verandah roof extends over the thrust bay and garage. The thrust bay features a set of casement and fixed light windows. There is a central door flanked by casement windows. The return verandah finishes on a rear addition which has a separate entrance and casement and fixed light windows. The place sits on limestone foundations. The lower walls are face brick and the upper walls are rendered.
