ARCHITECTURE

Inter-War, Bungalow w Federation Influences

No 25 Hamilton Street is a single storey house constructed in brick and rendered brick with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with a full width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts. There is a central door and hopper light flanked by sidelights and sets of casement windows. There is a string course at the sill level. The roofscape features rendered chimneys and finials.

1936 The engagement is announced of Norah, only daughter of Mrs. H. E. Heterick, of 80 Allen-street, East Fremantle, and the late Mr. Heterick, to Ernest, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Purdie, of 190 Canning-road. East Fremantle. (reference)

1943 Marriage on August 21, at St John's Church, Fremantle, by Rev Canon E. M. Collick, James Alexander, younger son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. Elder, to Joyce Mary, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cutting, of 25 Hamilton-street, East Fremantle. (reference)
