Architecture

Inter-War Early Modern with Art Modern Influences

No 167 Petra Street is a single-storey house constructed in limestone, brick and rendered brick with a hipped tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Post-War II Contemporary style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with an offset thrust bay. A central hip roofed porch extends over the bay window. The porch is supported on steel poles. A verandah terrace extends from the porch to the north. A steel balustrade runs along the terrace. A garage is located under the terrace. The front facade features sets of double hung sashes and fixed light windows. There is a central door flanked by a further pair of doors. The place sits on limestone foundations. The walls are rendered with a face brick band to the base of the wall. A carport has been sympathetically designed to the front of the house.
